Here’s another of my favorite class assignments from my days in MSUM. We were instructed to design a logo for a celebrity of our choice, and naturally I picked Salvador Dali, whom I’ve studied and researched for years.
Designing the logo was a relatively easy process. First, by picking the most distinguishable personal traits, the moustache. Next, choosing one of Dali’s most recognizable work of art, the melting clocks from The Persistence of Memory. Several sketches later, the clock found its place in Dali’s necktie and the moustache proud and erect on their owner’s striking face.
Finally, mashing the two elements together with Dali’s favorite color palette and you get the following Warhol-ish tri-panel:
